Default A very old new picture

    Hi...

I was trying to do something that for me is quite odd. I tried to make a picture that look very old... So I took a picture of an old landscape and made it to look like a very old picture.. I converted it to Black and White, took down the contrast and adding corn. I also did some other things but this was the main things...

How do you think it camed out ?

    You did ver good!
I think you could try taking some of the black out since old pictures tend to fade and you could also add some more grain.

    Keep up the creativity :)

Johannes, God bless you, I got the best giggle out of your translation of corn/grain! I agree with Fabs...more grain and less black would be good. Another thing that "ages" a photo is a sepia filter over the top. You might do a layer over the black and white, add a sepia filter and then adjust the opacity to see if you like the effect!

HIi guys. I am happy to hear your words :)

I did a little photoshop-try to add a bit more grain and I also put a bit of sepia to it... I did not really now what you mean ut taking away the black, but I gave it a try and here is the result..

Johnannes, good try! According to my monitor, you went a bit more towards the purple tones than the brown so I downloaded your photo and tried it myself. I used a sepia-colored filter, did a color balance where I moved the dark tones towards yellow just a bit and the light tones towards red, and finally did a levels adjustment.

When we say "take away the blacks" it means lighten the very darkest tones in the image because if a photo is really old, it will appear to have lost some of it's dark tones from being exposed to light for a long time. So, when I did the levels adjustment, I lightened the midtones and that pulled the darker tones up with it, giving it a more washed out appearance.

Good result you got there Julie, that looks really old....

I did take sepia-filter in photoshop but I did not do any color balance.... I will try again and learn something new :)

I have tried and tried and I do not get your fine result. I am only getting result I am not happy with and then I like the original more...
