    water is really low and slimy here in NW La, but have been
    seeing a few green heron.....they love to hunt in this muck.

    crop from 400mm w/1.4x, ISO 400, 1/500, f/9(just 1/3 above wide open for this lens)

    Great perch, excellent detail, and nice pose and background ! Very well done !
    Really nice to see the whole bird, including feet, totally visible.

    I think it would benefit from a bit more contrast and wouldn't mind having the bird just a bit more
    to the left in the frame.

    Like the perch and the BG. Nice pose too. Your point of sharpest focus appears to be the feet. I would selectively sharpen the eye and the head to make this image pop. I'd also like to see a little more room up top. Thanks for posting!

    Hi David,

    Very nice details. The head looks a little soft. I have to agree with Mike about the composition. The perch is excellent!

    All good suggestions above. A bit wider would have been nice as you could have included the entire knot hole in the lrc.

    I like the perch, pose, light and BG. If you have, I would give it more room and as mentioned sharpen the eye a bit more. Great to see that the bird is pretty clean considering the environment.
