Default Eagle coming back to his perch

I'm fortunate that one of my wifes family ranches has the largest Bald Eagle nesting population in the lower 48 so opportunities always abound :).

Dusted off the 20D, 500 F/4, 1/2500, F/4, ISO 200, somewhat harsh light. Added a tad bit of canvas up top and on the left.

Mike I like the eagle, especially the head pose. The OOF perch is a bit distracting for me as it draws me because that's where the eagle is moving to.

    Hi Mike,

Very nice, looks a little tight in the frame but that's about it for me. Very nice eye contact and exposure control!

Great wing position and landing pose. Great opportunity to have many cooperative eagles in your 'backyard'. :) I agree with Maxis and would give it more room.

The exposure on the eagle is nearly perfect to my eye.
Every single detail is 'lit' and visible.
The OOF branch is 'clearly' a product of your proximity.
I would simply clone it out and settle for the stunning sky background.
You may have seen my post here yesterday of the 'Eagle Catches Crow,' where Artie vastly improved my image by removing an entire tree!
I believe removing the branch, even though it gives a sense of 'place', would improve yours as well.
Again, this is one beautiful eagle!

I agree with Bill, clone out the perch... but thats all personal preference. This is a great capture!

Excellent light angle and a cool pose. As the bird does not have its talons outstretched for imminent landing, eliminating the branch would not be a big deal for some (me included!).
