This was taken at Nickerson Beach this past Saturday. Another Oystercatcher came a bit to close while this guy was clamming...........and he let him know that he should back off. Canon Mark 3 with the Sigma 300-800mm lens at 800mm and ISO 800 at f 5.6 (yes Julie......I only go here when I use big glass:D) for 1/1250 sec.

I invite all you who do not venture down into the landscape/macro/wildlife & other forums to take a peek once in a while and post. We don't bite .......usually:eek:!

As always comments welcomed and appreciated.

This a fantastic shot! I love the light, the BG, the sharpness, eye contact, the colors, but most of all, the pose and behaviour you have captured! Maybe a bit more room on top could help, but as is is just TERRIFIC! congratulations!

Soft light, nice sharpness, and great action captured. I would like a little more room up top.

Even if I weren't truly jealous as I've never even seen an oyster catcher in real life....I'd still like this image simply because it's a great shot showing some neat behavior.

Are there more birds or photogs at Nikcerson?

I was gonna suggest more room at top, but it's already been mentioned ;-)

Everything else looks great! Well done.

You are really getting a lot of mileage out of the OCs. Lovely light and a very joyous pose. Maybe a tad lighter?

Spectacular with the open bill and the riased foot matching the angle of the upper mandible. Wondrous light. Why more room on the top? One reason is that there is more room on the botton than on the top...

excellent shot Roman, beautiful light, pose, exposure, and detail, to me, the setting looks so cool, I would like to see more of it ... too tight for me, but the image is outstanding.

    Terrific bird pose!
Sharpness and light are great, as mentioned above a bit more of room on top would be fine.

Ha! I almost missed this one and it's proof you DO know where f/5.6 is! It's lovely, Roman. Wonderful pose and the lighting is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind seeing just a tad more at the top to match the bottom. Everything else is spectacular.
