This is another image that I created on the Isle of Wight in the English Channel. This Coot parent was feeding two young (one seen here) in the early evening light.
Canon 40D, Sigma 50-500 at 500, ISO 320, 1/800sec, F9.0 Handheld with fill flash. I underexposed the frame but about -1. Cropped to about 60% of full frame.
I debated over wheter or not to reduce the F-stop but the other chick kept moving in and out of the picture so I wanted to be ready to create an image of them all in focus when the opportunity arose. I couldn't get a lower angle as the bank was fairly high.
Great moment captured. I like the exposure control and details, too. A lower angle would have helped and I find the birds a bit centered. Thanks for sharing!
Nicely done, ESP with the EXP. A good crop from the bottom from just above your signature would tighten things up. With two subjects interacting I am fine with the centered COMP (but having more room behind the chick would work too).
