Default Springbank Pumping Station in Infrared

Recently had my old Nikon D100 converted to Infrared by LifePixel in Washington State.
Here is one of my first images using that camera. Using a converted IR camera is certainly easier when it comes down to metering and focusing the image compared to using an infrared filter on the front of the lens. Image take in late evening. Springbank Park in London, Ontario Canada

Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated

    Bob,

Congrats on the IR conversion. I wish I had an old camera around that I could do this too. I like the fact that you created this IR image in soft light. It lacks that high contrast look normally associated with IR images I have been seeing posted - nice departure (disclaimer: not that I dislike the IR images being posted, it is this one is a nice departure demonstrating how these images look when created in soft light).

The image looks to need a CCW rotation. I verified in PS that about a 2 deg. CCW rotation is needed. I used the ruler tool along the roof edge of the building to do it. While I had the image in PS I tried a curves adjustment and added a slight amount of 3/4 tone contrast. This added a bit of snap to the image. Sounds like I am contradicting myself but I feel it is a bit flat and needs a touch of contrast to add snap while retaining that soft look.

I like the composition. The river meanders through the image nicely and is a good leading line. The structure adds visual interest. I might suggest that a move right and up a bit would have gotten rid of the FG leaf merge with the far left and right shores.

    Nice work Bob.

This should be moved to the IR Forum.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions Robert.

I didn't realize there was an IR forum. Now that I look more closely I see where it is and will post images there in the future.

Agree with all the others...very nice image. Make a few minor corrections and you'll have a real winner!
