Another image from my weekend with this beautiful girl... hope my wife is not reading this:p
Sweet light and the friendly company of Pepe Reigada in a very hot day, in a pond near home. BTW, the pinkish area under the tail is a OOF flower of Neriun oleander
Nikon D2X AFS Nikkor 300VR Manual exposure 1/800s f5,6 ISO250, blind, tripod and wimberly head
I would eliminate the circle in LRC, and maybe also the reddish one beneath the tail. Very cool otherwise. The colours look great. I can never get over how tiny their feet are!
I don't think a kingfisher portrait gets much better than this Juan! I agree with Doug- a shave off the bottom might be optimal. I'm really taken with the detail in the feathers on the rump and upper back.
Hi Juan,
That sure is one beautiful bird! I think the crop is nice as presented but agree with at least smoothing out the LR circle.......stunning details throughout.......... very well done!
I love these birds...but this is just a bit too tight for my taste...perhaps I've seen too many kingfisher photographs lately to make this one stand out from the crowd....either the perch needs to be more interesting, or the pose or composition.
Lovely bird, lovely light, and so, so sharp. Wonderful d-o-f and BKGR, except for the whitish circle in the lrc. A bit more room would be nice, as would a bit more of a head turn, right to square to the film plane.

Such a nice shot, Juan. Colors, bg, perch, and sharpness near perfect. Do wish for just a bit looser crop all around on this one--a very tiny nit. Beautiful.
