Hi Everyone,
Nice to see so many owl photos showing up on BPN. Here is a shot of a Barred Owl I came accross in Linley Valley here in Nanaimo B.C. This time he was being harrassed by Western Tanagers so I got a couple of pictures of them as well.

Hi Steve,
I've debated this one for a while.........While I like the tight composition on this.......they multiple catchlight/highlights in the eyes are a bit bothersome and may be even OK as they sem to add depth to the eye.....but the upper corners........especially the brighte left corner are more distracting in this presentation. Maybe toning it the same as the other corner (if you are comfortable with such corrections) would help keep our eyes focused on his. I am wondering if a bit of different angle would have helped as the bill is also very close to the bottom edge of the frame.
Hi Roman,
Thanks for the comment. I never thought about that left upper corner and no one outside of BPN has commented on it so far. Guess I could always clone some of the green from the right hand side and fill that bright spot in.
Steve- I like tight portraits like this, and the eyes reflect the world so whatever is there (except maybe the sun and a flash) is OK. I am put off by the yellow cast on the right side of the image and wonder where it came from?
Hi Guys,
Here is the re-post with that left corner touched up. Don't know about the yellow cast unless there was some filtering of somekind going on with the morning sun on that side through the trees.
