    Default Chinese Gliding Frog

Met a few friends at the Museum of Science in Ft Lauderdale on Saturday morning to check out the frog exhibit!! lots of pretty cool creatures there. this one is the chinese gliding frogs.

they were all fairly challenging to photograph as we were photographing through glass cages. i was using a polarizar filter thinking it might help cut some glare. i left my flash behind so i was using on-board flash most of the time:( and under the flourescent lights, it was hard to get the correct colors even after color balancing. i did not change or blur the bg at all. it is as it was in the camera. just a little noise reduction.

    D300, 18-200VR at 135mm, f/5.6, 1/5s, -0.7EV, ISO 400, flash did not fire on this one.

since the flourescent lights were reflecting some hotspots on the shiny frog, i had to compensate to the negative which underexposed the frog. so in post processing, i brightened the whole image while using color control points to try to tame the hotspots. slight crop and some color balancing and that's about it.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated!!

    Mr. Daktari,
Is this a new trend; everybody is shooting frogs now... I'm going to have to dig up Freddy the frog from my film days and digitize him...:D Your frog looks good from a thumbnail point of view...:p:D:)
When is the system going to be up and running???

Hi Harold - nice frog, well done on shooting through the glass.

I might try a differnt crop - find the OOF area top left hand corner distracting - think the image might be better with that area cropped out - maybe!

    :)

Daktari , beautiful frog , it is toxic?
Regarding the crop Lance suggested it might end being to tight:confused:

Mr Daktari :D:) Way to go Gus !!!!

I like the PS work Harold !!! Image came out well Difficult to use flash under this conditions. Normally you cant to use a rubber hood and hold it against the glass. Seems to give the best results !!!

Under the circumstances, I think you got a pretty good image! In ideal circumstances, I would have positioned myself a little more to the front of the frog and photographed him down his side instead of starting at the side. I'd go ahead and blur the BG as it isn't really doing anything for the overall image and I would move him down to the right corner of the frame.
