since flowers seem to be the order of the day I figured I'd join in too!! although this isnt really a flower, its the bracts from a bromeliad at Mounts Botanical Gardens in West Palm Beach. i dont own a macro lens, yet!!, so i have to get a little creative and i thought this guy lent itself to a zoom blur. i just happen to be a big fan of the zoom blur too!!

after getting it into CNX i really didnt like it that much, but thought it had potential. the darkest areas were black mulch and it told me to convert the entire image to B&W! so here it is. cropped left and right for compo, adjusted brightness and contrast, converted to B&W, added a little red and a little yellow. sharpened at 21, 52, 4. the sharpening added a little extra punch to it.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated

Great capture my friend. Our buddy Gus would be very proud of you. You have excellent comp and you achieved great results from the zoom blur. Although it is centered, I like it as presented.
    Congrats,

Harold, I love the conversion and the blur...you did a great job of interpreting a so-so image and making something special out of it. My one comment would be that I'd like a bit more area in the center free of blur as that would give my eye more of an anchor. Otherwise...good stuff!!!

Certainly outstanding, Harold! Agree with Al that a little bit more contrast could help.

I'm very proud of you Mr. Daktari,
I love the zoom blur. Composition is good and so is the exposure. Placement in frame works for me. I would boost up the contrast just a tad to make this one pop. congats...
