This image was taken a couple years ago in late June at a remote camp near Cape Churchill, Manitoba. Although this species has been known to dive to great depths, in the summer, at least at this location, they forage on small tundra ponds that you can walk across wearing hip boots. 20D, 500 f/4, 1/1500, f/6.7, ISO 400. I had trouble holding detail in some of the whites in this image. Comments are welcome.

You have a great pose and background. However, this has a little too much contrast for my taste. A little shadows and highlights would help to bring out some of the shadow detail in the duck's neck. Good job on getting close.

Beautiful bird and setting. I wish for a lower angle and more details in the blacks, exposure of the whites looks good on my monitor.

Lovely bird I had never seen. Agree with the previous comments and will add that the BG is very complimentary.
