Dan, join the club! Isn't it funny how you find a new way of looking at your photographs and it just takes over your brain?

I have three very small suggestions for you on this one...

The fence is a little cockeyed and could use a little leveling out. There's one small black area on the back of the bird's neck that is more pronounced (probably because it is close to his eye) than the others - you might consider cloning or blending that in with the other feathers. Finally, there's a white tail feather that could probably stand to be cloned out or made to look like the others.

The thing I've learned about this action is that it really brings up the small things we tend to miss or that are barely noticeable in the original photograph. Every little shadow and highlight needs to be watched or it becomes this glaring thing just hanging out there. (Go down and look at my red lily - that "Mick Jagger tongue" is a great example of this!

Everything else is very nice. Great contrast on the bird and I absolutely love the detail on the fence!!!

I do like this treatment! A little rotation is certainly in order...

Thanks for the observations guys. Here is a repost with a CW rotation. I think that I will leave the black spot and the white feather as is for now though. Dan
