    Default Pied-billed grebe

I wandered around marshes last weekend to do some test with a potential lens. This place has board walk built about one foot over the water which is cool to take water level shots just by laying on the wood floor.

This little fellow as showing up and diving constantly and did not seem to know I was there; observing. I am wondering about the background which is a bit busy to my taste. Should have used a 6.6 or 7.1 aperture...

Thank you to Axel for the white spot. For the rest I suppose I would have to get my chirurgical gloves and to an addon on the left side.

I like these little guys. I don't find the BG too distracting but would prefer to see more room at the left side since you clipped part of t the leg. I would remove the bright white spot above the head.

You have a great pose here and your exposure is good. I agree with Axel about removing the the white spot. Also, some fill flash would have brightended the face and added a catchlight, focusing attention on the eye. Good job on getting close to this cute little grebe.

    Hi JD,
Great detail in that head and eye. I like the reflection as well. The BG elements are not too overpowering but the two bright reeds intersecting the head do occasionally draw my eye.
