Another image made at Lion Country Safari on Saturday afternoon. i found the giraffes particularly difficult to compose. wondering what everyone thinks about this one. and yes!! i did put the window down for this one. the first 45 minutes in, i did not and i regret it now!! must go back and do this again!!
D300, Bigma at 500mm, f/6.3, 1/1250s, -0.7EV, ISO 400.......i dont think the better beamer would have even come close to hitting the eyes, especially at that shutterspeed, but it sure would have been nice to open up the shadows!!
thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated!
Mr. Harold,
I like this composition very much... The colors are nice and I like the head angle...you sure caught his attention...:D I love the soft pastel green background...good job my friend. You know, many many years ago; you were too young to remember; there was a television series called Doctari about an animal doctor that use to do medical research and take care of the wild animals in Africa...:D So instead of Mr. Harold, from now on; you will be known as the famous Doctari...:D:p;):)
thanks guys!! gus, are you that much older than me?!!!:D:D and you are right, i have never heard of him, but i do remember marlin perkins on mutual of omaha's wild kingdom!!!!
I really like this image - it has a softness that just fits with the giraffe. I think the softness is based upon the perfect brown on the giraffe. Well done.
I think the composition works and the "right at you stare" is perfect.
Gail
I remember Daktari, also!
I like the detail in the neck with it being so sharp. Nice job keeping it in the plane with the face. I would like to see shadows lightened up around the eyes to see the rims and eyelashes, and details in the ears. Is this what Alfred meant by the blacks blocking out?? But as you said, this may not be possible at that distance.
