Another image from my visit to Bass Rock in early June. In the background is the mainland of south-east Scotland just to give a bit of location to the photo.
Taken with 1Dmk3 and 70 - 200mm F2.8 at 130mm. ISO 320 F8 +0.33EV at 1/1250s.
I like thec composition, and the exp, the pose is very nice too, I would just correct the horizon and give the eyes a bit of levels. But other than that, I just live it! Congratulations!
Good work by Ramon. Yes to brightening the face and the eyes. The juxtapostion of the bird and the BKGR is less than ideal.

Thanks Ramon and Artie for your comments. The horizon is pretty much as it appears from Bass Rock and the undulating landscape does create a strange horizon especially with the coast going round into a small bay behind the bird. I agree the juxtaposition of the background is not quite right, especially with that strange hill in its central location but the main reason for posting was to show how close offshore this superb colony of 150,000 gannets is. Anyone visiting the UK in the summer should definately include it as an eessential place to visit but make sure you book the trip early!!! Hopefully I will get chance to revisit next year as it was such an unforgetable experience.
As I said, I think this is a terrific shot as is, the thing with the horizon is that although it may be "correct" the perseption is that it is a bit crooked so I would still try to straighten it a little, I took the liberty to do this and to retouch the eye and levels a bit too, I hpe you don't mind!
Have a nice day!
