This is another portrait of a Razorbill photographed on Machias Island a few days ago. In the BG are rocks and lichen and I removed a horizontal line that went through the eye.

Wow, 5000 th posts! That is a great figure. Big congratulations and thank you so much for the lot of helpfull comments and suggestions that you are posting here :)
The portrait is terrific instead of the fact that the light is a bit harsh. you did a good job with the exposure. Love the excelent details on the eye. Well done "super Axel" ;)
This is a good example of how to make an image work. Since the Razorbill is such an extreme bird color wise, black top white bottom, using the light to your advantage by making a portrait of the black head and exposing for that, cropping off the white bottom here in frame was a great idea. Excellent exposure and good details to show the eye.
Congrats Axel! Your doing a terrific job as moderator on this forum, keep it up....
As for the shot, the light anlge and condition aren't ideal but you made the best out of it with some really good detail in the feathers and eye. Great headshot!
Congradulations on your milestone and keep it up . There seams to be a strong majenta cast on this image and it may need a contrast boost
Congrats on your 5000th post, thats a lot. Nice background and lovely bird. The eye could be lightened and maybe a S/H might help as this side of bird has a lot of shadows. Sort of looks cramped/stuffed into the image to me.
The viewfinder is my guidance.
Love the bird and the feather detail.
I'd do some s / h to the closest side of the bird to lighten it a bit. Considering that this side of the bird was in shadow, it's certainly not bad...I'd just like to see it a bit lighter.
The frame does look a bit cramped for my taste.
Big congrats on your milestone and big thanks for all your work in BPN, it is certainly appreciated :)
About it being tight, I think web presentation allows for that, more than a print. I'd be happy to have it in my files.
Big hugs!

Axel,
Impressive - both the 5000 posts and the razorbill.
Your contribution to BPN is greatly appreciate.
Have a blessed day - dave b.
Pretty nice considering the light conditions. I'm sure fill-flash would have given great results.
Thanks for your ongoing feedback to all on BPN. Keep it up! :-)
Congrats on the 5000!
Great job considering the tough lighting, looks great, great exposure job.
I wouldn't touch the image with S/H, I think this would muddy the contrast.

Axel, Congrats on 5000 and on this image. I think that when at Machias island, one has to be prepared to make lemonade out of lemons, because so much at that location is out of your control, and you did well.
Artie, congrats on the new grandchild.
Congratulations! I think you managed the light and exp geniously!
congrats Axel, fine image considering the light., sweet detail. 5000 is a lot of work in such a short time, although I do not agree with all of your comments, I do find them very interesting., and I do appreciate you extensive effort., well done.
Congrats Axel and thanks for your work as a moderator. This is a nice closeup with some interesting detail to look over (starburst pupil is pretty cool). I see a bit of a reddish tinge as well but nothing too overpowering.

5000 posts? Can't believe it.
Nice image. There are lot of details in the feathers. Exposure is well done.
Fantastic shot of a seldom seen bird. I love it!
Congratulations Axel and thanks for all your work on the site ... appreciated!
