    Default Nikon 70-200 Sweet Spot??

    I just got a D300/70-200VR. Am I right in thinking on a f/2.8 lens the sweet spot is f/5.6?? Does the focal lenght with a zoom effect this?? Any other cosiderations appreciated.

    Bill the lens is very sharp through the zoom range and I used it most of the time with a converter. Also most of the time wide open !!! I'm sure there will be a benefit to stop down one stop.
