THis is a tough one. Not a pleasing setting at all, yet I too would have pressed the shutter given the subject. It looks bright but am on my laptop, so will leave that to others. I would crop off the bottom as the reflection is not of interest and you can eliminate some messiness. Definately tone down the bright spots (Patch tool), eliminate the stick in front of the bird, and other bg cleanups as your ethics will allow. The bird is posing nicely and feather detail looks nice. It actually looks like you could have been photographing at an even lower angle.

Hi Wayne you are close on this one !!!

Have to agree with Grace The one thing that would improve the image is laying flat on the ground !!! Does tend to clean up the bg by rendering totally oof !! The round highlights do detract from image !!! Softer light would have been help also !! You did manage a very good head angle and position in frame !!!

Nice pose, details and eye contact. Adding to the other comments, it looks a bit bright on my monitor.

This guy put on a show for a couple of days for us last year didn't he! Considering it is rather rare for our area it was tough not to photograph it even in less than ideal surroundings :-) The spots above would clean up nicely.

A lovely fresh juvenile. Looks a bit contrasty. As is, a semi-pano crop to eliminate the partial reflection. About an hour's hard work with the Patch Tool, the Clone Stamp, and a few QMs could clean this up nicely...

Thanks a lot for the input everyone, as a point of interest I was as previously stated lying flat on my belly in wet sand (mud), so as for getting a lower angle, I'm not sure that was possible. I darkened the image somewhat and like it more in this repost. My pp skills are limited but I really am trying to learn, so where the heck is the patch tool lol.

You can find the Patch Tool with the Healing Brushes (keyboard shortcut J). Click-draw a circle around the area you wish to get rid of and then click-drag it to a smooth area of similar tonality and let go. The Patch Tool blends texture whereas the Clone Stamp does not. (If it does not work, check to make sure that Source is checked at the top, not destination. Photoshop has a Twilight Zone feature where this changes for no reason....

Detailed instructions on the many uses of the Patch Tool can be found in our Digital basics PDF File. This includes info on how to change the keyboard shortcut for the the Patch Tool from J to P. DB also includes the complete BAA Digital Workflow. See the link on the home page.
