This is the odd looking Musk Duck.

The throat pouch is inflated during the breeding display.

I could certainly not disagree with your description it is very odd indeed.
A little more canvas at the bottom would help, and the eye looks a little dull.

Nice shot of this beautiful duck. Love the pose, headturn and calm water. This is too bright though, a lower angle and a bit more contrast would have given this better seperation from the BG. Agree about giving it a bit more room on the bottom and maybe taking a bit from the top. Still a very nice shot!

I agree. The reflection ends too closely to the bottom edge. I also find it a tad too bright and yes, more contrast would give some needed punch. Perhaps a lower angle if it was at all possible. Thanks for sharing this species, I had never seen it before. I like the calling pose :-)

Despite it looks a bit overexposed a bit too tight in the bottom, I like the open beak, angle and the overall composition! Congratulations.

Wow, a pelican-duck. Odd indeed. In addition to the excellent suggestions above, the midtones need to be a bit darker.
