    Default Fencing Gannets

I took this picture while visiting Bonaventure Island during a 2 week trip to Gaspésie. When a Gannet returns to the nest, the mates will greet each other by fencing with their beaks. Although there were many birds displaying this behaviour, I had a hard time finding a pair that would perform perpendicular to my position to ensure nice, even lighting and a pleasing pose.

Terrific, I even love the BG, suggesting the big colony behind them, the light is just amazing and the exp is extraordinary, the only "but" for me would be just bit more crop so their legs don't show in the frame, besides that, it is just an OUTSTANDING shot!!! Big congratulations!!!!

I took the liberty of croping it, as I think this works better :)
    Still as said, OUTSTANDING shot!

Very nice Joel. There is a beautiful balance in the image and you've figured out how to get a nice BG. I like the repost as the image looks more balanced.

Fantastic image and great patience waitng for the perfect moment. I too like the crop, and the bottom of the original was a little dark and distracting to me.

Great moment captured. I like the details and soft light, too, and would clone out the OOF head between the necks that looks like a yellowish circle. I like Ramon's crop idea. Keep them coming!

Thank you for your constructive comments. Here is the improved version, with a tighter crop and without the OOF gannet between the two heads

Looks almost perfect hehe, to make it just perfect, I would try to center them more, this would be (to me) the optimum crop, I might clone the wing from the bird in the right just to make it even more clean and soft but still, have a great day and again, congrats for a terrific shot that for now, to me it is just a dream to shoot.
