Conditions at Bonaventure Island have never been better. These two Northern Gannets have built a nest on the roof of one of the viewing platforms, resulting in some intimate images with clean backgrounds. I would love a little more of the nest on the bottom, but the cedar shingles are just out of the frame. I can't wait to get back there in August.
Great shot Chris. It brings back great memories of the fun and educational workshop you led to Bonaventure Island this past June. I would encourage everyone to experience the Island with you.
I think you made out here! The birds are captured very nicely. Good views of the colors on the head, crossed bills, a big plus to me, clean bodies and sharp in view eyes. I just do not know about the vegetation. Almost looks weed like. It adds a nice contrast to the whites and gives a pleasing effect. I am not downing or picking apart your image, by any means. Or to say it is a lost image. I guess by seeing some other more natural looking frames already taken, with say sticks, they looked cleaner. I still would hang this one on the wall.
