Mostly a "Show & Tell" as this location doesn't open until the light is pretty tough,
but I am testing a new lens so any excuse to break it out and get a feeling for how
I am with it means it might not be the most ideal light.
Get it? - Good. :)

Congrats on getting the 600 Dustin! Sharpness looks good as does eye contact. Lighting is less than ideal, as you mentioned, but I know how it feels to want to kick the tires so-to-speak. Enjoy!
Yes to sharp and extremely harsh light. The bird, which is rather ratty, is an adult Yellow-crowned Night-Heron not a juvenile. With the very harsh light and the less than perfect specimen the chances of creating a dramatic high quality image were nil. COMP and wing position OK.

Oceanside can be very tough. Since it opens so late, its tough to really pull off "great" stuff there unless its a nice overcast day. But good wing position and good exercise out with the new gear.
Thanks Ed & Len, it was rough because I left nickerson when it really got quiet while it was overcast, which was the only reason I was going to venture there - but then it cleared up minutes before I arrived and figured to just get out...
Cannot wait to get out again!
