Hi Jeni, I like the sunset and the trees on the right and dark area on the bottom. I think I would add more to the bottom though.

What lens? The trick here was to move well to your left so that you could put the sun on the left side of the frame with the trees on the right; as is, the sun is too centered... Nice colors. Also, the tree on the right needs to be sharper (at capture--use a tripod and a smaller aperture...)

    Default Focal length

    Sorry - focal length 280mm.
Unfortunately couldn't get out of car to reposition or use a tripod... not allowed as it was in "wild" country:)!! I did use a beanbag, possibly slight breeze causing a bit of movement.
Thanks for crit Art - am busy working my way through your basic PDF so hope to improve!:D

    Hi Jeni,
I like the feel and mood on this one. I agree with moving the sun in this case to the left... I like the soft mellow yellow hues in the sky...

    Hi Jeni,
Silhouettes are some of my favorites but you need to pay extra attention to the placement of the main focus of your image (in this case the sun). I did a simple crop to remove the sun from the center and place it on the ROT (rule of thirds) spot. The slight blur doesn't bother me as much but judging by your conditions.......movement may have been a factor as well as DOF........either way a slight boost in ISO would have dealt with both. I also did a local contrast adjustment...........Unsharp Mask> amount 20.........radius 29..threshold 0. That being said........I think the crop helps improve this overall compositionally and this is a very simple yet pleasing image.
