I am more pleased with the background on this image.

Love the back ground, also his shadow on his wing! Mostly I am a sucker for that fanned tail.

Yes, the BG is great. :) I like the open bill and fanned tail, the position of the near wing and the strong shadow on the body are not ideal.

It's pretty good Jim. The BG is terrific as is sharpness. The shadow isn't a harsh one and it has an interesting shape. I'd be pleased with this one too.

Couldn't agree with you more Jim. I think the shadow works here. Not a big fan of harsh shadows, but this one is soft and has nice lines to it.

Did you work on the BG Jim? I ask because I see what look like clone marks along the bottom of the frame and I find most of the left part a little blotchy (very clone tool-like).

Good point, I hope the vertical lines are due to processing (healing brush?) and not a faulty sensor.

I did add a hari at the bottom as the lower wing tip was a bit low in the frame. The rest of it is as shot.

Do you see the vertical lines in the lower half left and right? I hope it's not the sensor.

The BKGR is nicer but with the dirty, scruffy neck and the fairly harsh shadows (I hate sun at Bosque after 8am unless the wind is DIRECTLY with the sun...) Oddly enough my favorite part of the image is the underwing detail in the primaries of the near-wing... Go figure. (I love stuff in the shade when it is sunny.)
