I thought of breaking breaking some rules, becoming a rebel....to feel like a young college kid again...:-)

The first rule that I am trying to break is creating images without eye contact. Earlier, I never used to shoot when the subject is looking the other way. However, this is a tough one and I must confess that I struggling to create an excellent image by breaking this rule. One of the shots that I had taken with this concept in mind is an abstract of a Langur monkey. This shot was taken in Corbett National Park, India.

    Canon EOS 1D Mark II, EF 400mm F2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII. Full frame. ISO 200, F8, 1/640 seconds, 800mm

This is very interesting and I have to give you credit for trying to break one of the big cardinal sins of photography. I love the black and white image - you have really nice detail in the hair and a nice range of tones but I would prefer to have a little bit more of the face profile showing just to give a bit more perspective.

One thing I would do is clone out that branch/flower (?) that is just off the side of his head...it makes it more difficult to figure out what I'm looking at here.

So keep on trying to break the rule but I really think you might want to try to include a little more face unless you're really going for a totally abstract look here.

The intention is good but, I think, to break the rules you need to have something really compelling to make it work. This doesn't do it.

I'm with Carole. The thumnail looked interesting but there is nothing to hold my interest... I'm with Julie too as the stuff in the BKGR is distracting. Keep on keeping on till you get it right
