Now that is tight in the frame! Did you have the chance to take some images of it with the TC off? I also find the the red flower coming out from behind the head distracting. Beautiful bird though...I hope you have more to share :-)
Oh my, what a bird. You needed the 1.4X not the 2X... Much too large in the frame... Wonderful color and what a bill. What were you doing in Malaysia?

I also vote for more space for the bird. Too much focal length if indeed this is full frame. Great looking bird! Thanks for posting!
Very nice looking bird. I have to agree regarding more room in front of the bird and maybe moving two steps to the right would of helped you with the red flower in the BG.
Love the bird and the red flowers contrast nicely with the yellow bird.
Another vote for more space for the bird :)
Ah well, too tight. But an awesome bird! Like our Aussie Sunbirds. :) Thansk for sharing.
Beautiful bird and alert pose, tightness has been mentioned.
As others have already mentioned, a bit tight on the crop. Fraser's Hill is a great place for montane birds.

I had gone on a official meeting. Took a week off for photogrpahy. It is tough to get large animals, so shot monkeys and birds. Will be going again sometime later purely for photography. This bird was flying aroud me. Initially it was a little far, so I had attached the 2x. Then it came quiet close and perched itself in a flower near by. I knew it would fly away before I change to the 1.4x. So shot with the 2x. I actually struggled to have the large beak in the frame. Even in this image it is very nearly touching the frame.
Sab,
A situation like that is one that calls for an Back-up Photographer, standing by with another camera and a shorter lens. Say, a person who you all-expenses-pay to come with you. I'm free.
Great bird!!
