Taken at merritt island, fl in January. Water a bit noisy, I think. just realized it now as I am posting it. Any other thoughts?

Hi Joan, I would crop some from the top of the picture and there are a few splotches to clone out just above the bird on the right side. Eye could be a little sharper I think. Colours are beautiful if a tad dark and the head angle is great - I think!!!

A well done critique by Niki... Brighter (or flash) would (have) helped.

Fully agree on the brighter I did not see the base exposure but think that it was a bit under? If you list the compensation would be very useful

Tried using curves to brighten the image, worked on the eye and some of the black spots around the back. One good point to make here is the horizon .... if we have no clear reference you can use the eye with its reflection. Draw a line from one to the other and can use to straighten the image perfectly.

Gorgeous bird - everything covered already.

Expsoure compensation = the act of manually adjusting the exposure via the +/- symbol on the camera to get a correct exposure ( then checking the results on your histogram.) and making adjustmenst as required.

I am sure there is a wealth oof info in the educational rescources forum.

    :)

Joan, I think Alfred made that remark based on your repost and probably missed your original post with all the technicals included.
