Lance, the non-techie is Clearwing Moth we have two around here and this is the Snowberrry quite small about 1-1/2". The other is larger and more colorful and is often called the humming bird moth since they are about the same size. I absolutely adore them.
Don calls them flying shrimp
A moth the size of a hummingbird - my god, are you living in Jurrasic Park :) LOL
Great wing and body position, a little contrast boost maybe? Can't wait to see more!

Love the image. Do hope you manage to get some more images of Sphinx moths this year as well. They are fun and surprise everyone who sees them for the first time.

Love the sharpness, the flower, and the colors, but the improvement with a crop to HORZ (it gets rid of lots of dead blooms and improves the COMP 1000% by better balancing it and by tightening it up) is so great that I am amazed that nobody suggested it above... In addition, all the space at the bottom did zip for the image...

Nice capture! the larvae of these moths bore into the wood of host plants and are thusly some of our more important economic pests...They sure are purty though!! Odd that nobody saw the horiz except Artie!!!!

Nonda I think you might have been like me...when you first saw all that beautiful soft green and purple BG you lost your everlovin' mind about cropping any of it out! Once Artie did the crop, though, I knew it was right and realized its not always about the bokeh...
Beautiful image overall...just better with the tighter crop!
Nonda, I would have never guessed that this is a moth! And you'll have more chances at them, how lovely. Great capture and even greater enhancement by the master!
Nonda, great image you have here. Excellent background and very sharp. Artie's re post does add pop to a wonderful image you captured.
