I was looking back at some pictures I took last year and found this. The Spoonbill looks like it is practicing pirouettes. As you can see, I need to work on my photoshop technics, as evident in the water at bottom.and some hot spots. I tried to remove some distracting floaters.I didn't realize it until I posted it.I suppose I could just crop it out. It was taken at 7:24 AM using my Sony A100 with a Sigma 50-500 lens,f/8.1/500,0ev,500mm,ISO 100. Thanks for looking and your C&C, John

A couple of points come to mind at first glance here. First, the horizon is tilted...it needs some CW rotation. Second, there are some hot spots in the whites. Third, the image needs some "warming" - there is a blue cast. Lastly the light angle wasn't ideal, leaving the eye dark and shadowed. You did get a beautiful subject which gave you a nice pose with those graceful wings up :-)

Hi John, you've dealt with a couple of issues and it does look better :-)

Here I digitally corrected the burnt whites by cloning in some of the nearby feathers (opacity set at 18%). I've also brightened the eye and a bit of the face, and also the shadows under the wings. I've also removed the blue cast (hopefully!). Difficult with such a small size file but it does show you what can be done!

Thanks Daniel, I am practicing with Photoshop more and more. I am learning a lot here and I really appreciate it.
