I think you could call this an almost high-key image. It was cloudy and overcast and I was practicing manual exposure since the light was constant. As always, your comments and advice are appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Katie, very graceful pose! i like the details in the feathers. Great legs! And I like how clear the eye is. Can you make the bird "pop" more? saturate? contrast? Maybe crop a little from the top and add a little to the right.

As above but I think it is too tight to the left. I like the pose.

I'm looking at this on another computer/monitor and it is much lighter than it was on my monitor so I agree that it needs saturation and some depth. I've got to calibrate my monitor, soon! I used that little calibration strip here but clearly I need to invest in a calibration system---or a new monitor!

hi katie, love your stilt!! i did some work on it. i took it into capture nx and used a color control point (the equivalent to viveza in CS3) to select the body and added contrast and saturation. then i used another color control point on the eye area and brightened just a bit.

love the pose of the bird and the compo. some flash fill may have helped even out the shadows in the eye area. great job!!

Hi Katie, I love your stilt too - one of my very favourite birds! I like Harold's repost but is the eye possibly a little red now?? For me the positioning of the bird in the frame is fine.

Katie, I di like the composition of this shot, but I do feel that is a tad tight in the frame. Also it does look a bit light on my monitor. Mr H's repost is good except for the eye. I think he used Jill's eye liner on this guy.
    Regards,

Okay, I went back and did some repairs and I hope this is better. Thank you, Harold for your work on this and the explanation. I'm running real short on time today but I will see if I can repeat your steps later.
