The Goldeneye have returned to my hometown for the winter months. One of my favourite and most difficult birds to photograph in flight, as their flightpath, and speed, is very erratic. I will get plenty of practice during this winter. The bottom of the frame is the old harbour wall. HH. ACR and PS.

Nice pose, with the head turned for perfect eye contact, and the wings up. I like the greenery at the bottom of the frame.
Was the original image over exposed? The highlights on the flank seems very bright on this. I also see a halo around the head/neck.
    Cool species. TFS.

Super shot WIll, details and exposure look fine to me. You really show the golden eye to good effect. Very good shot - I agree tricky blighters to photograph. I don't detect halos sharpening looks good to me..

I do see some whites that seem unrecoverable on the flanks as per Sidharth. Nice and sharp, these guys a re fast! The near wing looks great. I think I would have preferred a bit less room behind, or more in front.

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated. The brightest whites are on the 245-250 mark, I can easily tone them down a wee bit as they are not blown.

    Hi Will ...
perfect for me for the most part .
Nice colors and tones , good to have the lower part of the harbor in the BG to break the mono colored BG .
The whites could be tamed albeit not being too hot .
I would echo Sid about the halo(s) around the subject ...
Am 50/50 on the crop , too central for my taste .

Still a great shot Will , hope you have loads of fun in this winter

    TFS Andreas
