    Default Booby in Blackground

Nazca Booby captured during a recent trip to the Galapagos with Mr. Morris. Minimally processed, slightly cropped. The bird was so bright that with proper exposure of the whites, the lava rocks in the background became black without any effort.

Nicely done and I like the crop. Though the head and bill are pretty much covered by the d-o-f, slowing down and stopping down would have yielded some sharper feathers -- perhaps 1/2000 sec. at f/13. You would not have had to worry about bringing up unwanted background detail :-)

ps: And perhaps a bit of bill clean-up as well.

Thank you for the feedback, Artie. My first reaction after seeing the image on the computer screen was, "I wish I had stopped down for more d-o-f". I need to get better at changing the aperture when needed.

Well captured. I really like the control of the blacks/whites. The eye and bill look real good. I would reduce the highlights a little on the feathers, especially the chest area. This would bring out more detail.

What a great bird, and I love the white on black setting here. I also like artie's advice. Keep them coming!
