Here's a barn swallow bringing food for some hungry young ones.

I like the interaction and high key works well, too. There is a bit of color noise that can be easily fixed and the birds look a bit soft on my monitor.

I am wondering what the green colouration is on these birds, I have never seen this on Barn Swallows. I also agree with Axel's comments.

Wonderful composition and interraction captured in this image but as mentioned a tad soft. Many thanks for sharing Bill.

    I appreciate all the comments.

Even though the light was really a challenge, I'm sure I could have done a better job exposing the image.

I was trying to retain some dark detail against a bright, backlit gray sky.
I too am a bit puzzled by the softness, as I thought shooting at 1/2000 would take care of that issue.

As for the green coloration, most but not all of the birds in this flock have it.
I went back and checked several raw images to confirm this.

Perhaps it was a reflection of some green leaves below the birds but out of view.

I find all comments to be both constructive and instructive, as I strive to improve.

Maybe the photo isn't perfect, but I love the scene you caught, Bill; the parent with wings outspread almost as if sheltering his/her children, the babes leaning in for their food. I know we're all striving for artistic excellence here, but even the mistakes along the way are enjoyable!

    Thanks, Anita!
I felt fortunate to be able to witness this.
