    After seeing Nonda's fine flight image I had to bring out one of my puffins from yesterday. Good conditions on the island, must images had to be high key but managed some against the trees !!!!

    How do you make a high key image? Is that done in camera or post processing?
    love the feet, best puffin feet I have seen. Wish the face was as vibrant. love the behavioral image!

    I want one! The feet, as mentioned are wonderful. rest of the image looks a bit flat I think.

    Hi Cheryl With heavy overcast you need to expose for the bird and not the bg My exposure was close to two over so the bg was blown but the bird was perfectly exposed No over pixels at all !!!

    Hi Carole this images do look different than conventional Don't think you could bump the contrast any more since the blacks would start blocking !!! Would rater have soft afternoon light but at the time of day we got on the island was probably the best light !!!

    I was referring to turning them to solid black with zero detail !!!

    If I get another chance might try to use the flash and lower the shutter speed? Might work !!

    I like the overlapping shadows on the tail feathers. Great shot! Flight images are hard, imho. Thanks for posting.
