This image shows the chestnut colored neck ring that the duck is named for, only when the neck is outstretched does the ring show. Image captured at Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Nice colours and like the pose, the only thing I have reservation over is the positioning of the duck in the frame, a little too central for me.

Hi Joe. It looks like you cropped so to show the ripples in the frame. I have to agree with Jon, the duck looks too central. You got good detail, HA and I like the wing flap. Nice light, with lovely colours throughout.

Hi Jon, thank you for viewing and commenting. You are probably right that the bird is too much in the center but I like the ripples and color so I tried to include them in the composition. Easy to make another version.

Hi Will, thank you for viewing and commenting. You are correct, I did crop to include the ripples. I liked the color and pattern. As I wrote to Jon, easy to make another version.

Here is an out-of-the-box crop that might make someone happy. In addition, I lightened the WHITEs in the shaded portion of the near wing.

Artie, your recrop is a little unusual it leaves me very interested yet slightly unsure. Lightening those feathers was a good idea also.

Hi Joe .. apart from the central position of the subject , which I do not find ideal ... I do think it is a very nice frame with the ripples and the overall colors .

Arthur ... made an unusual " statement " , but I do somehow like it . Cool idea Arthur .

Hi Joe, I like the behaviour and the ripples and I think Artie's proposed crop is thought provoking, perhaps offers more forward movement?

Not sure on the overall exposure, looks like the LHS ripples have HL recovery???

Hi Steve, thank you for viewing and commenting. I see looking at the image what you write about on the left hand side, I hadn't noticed that before. It appears like the left side and right side are different exposures, not sure why. I was at the lake early morning as the sun was rising. There are building/houses surrounding the lake maybe one of those caused the effect. I looked at the master file, it shows in that also.

Hi Joe, I like the photo of the duck in "full orchestral" mode as well as the colors. It seems that the masking along the bird's right wing is a bit apparent. Perhaps you could refine it so the mask follows the edge of the feathers.
