I've been going through some of my many Red Grouse images and came across this one. This is from a few years back, when I photographed this Red Grouse, early morning. I managed to get real close as it popped up through the heather, getting the warmth from the early sunlight. HH. Almost FF, cropped slightly for comp. ACR and PS.

Detail and color on the breast are amazing. The background in the lower third? Not so much.

Hi Will, love the colour palette, just wished you had the whole bird in frame.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I do have the whole bird in the frame Steve, I moved back a bit, but by that time there was no frost on it. Thought this was a bit different with the frost.

Hi Artie. The lower part of the BG is frosted heather, I thought it fitted well with the habitat.
