Sorry Andreas this one doesn't float my boat, I think it is the membrane going over the eye that spoils it for me.

Agree with Jon, you have posted better.

    Hello Andreas,

I see clearly why you liked the image. And PP work is great, but I am afraid for me the eye is also a bit of a problem, just too distracting Boetie. Maybe if you darkened it a bit, worth a try?

Hope you have a great week-end,

    Kind regards,

Thanks folks for your honest feedback , much appreciated .

I might have indeed better ones in my collection , but i do not think that the eye is that distracting ... albeit i could be nicer for sure .
Maybe not fair to compare it with Steve´s Lion cubs due to the missing cuteness factor with this bull ... but they do show also not perfect clean eyes , so what is the difference in your opinion ??? I would like to know your thoughts on that front .
Gabriela the eye is not lightened ... maybe i can try to darken it , but the membrane will be visible regardless what i do do . Depending in the direction the Bull is looking it will be always visible .

Anyhow thanks for your constructive critique

    Cheers Andreas

    Dear Andreas,

I was afraid you'd say that - and now I am referring to the comparison with Steve's lion cubs. Please believe me, I have thought about it when I passed comment on Steve's image and was a little concerned that you might feel offended.

So let me explain to you how I see things:

Your frame is all about this portrait, an intimate close up where the eye is the focus of my attention as viewer. The eye is so prominent in this frame, and for me it's not so much about the membrane covering part of the eye but that white patch which is probably due to the light, just spoils things a bit. For that reason I suggested you might try darken it.

Steve's image has more to look at, there's the curvy tail of mom and the two subjects, one cub is sleeping ( and it's more about him really, even though he is in the background ),and the other cub looking into the camera with those weepy eyes. It seems unfair I know, but in all honesty I am less bothered by the eye infection of the little cub in Steve's image than by the eye of the grey seal.

Hope you understand? As you know I am a great fan of your seal images, and as far as I can remember I have never had something negative to say about them. Your PP is great and I hardly have anything to suggest to improve your images, just this time I think the eye is not ideal and I am sure you realise that.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

    Hey Miss Nice ...

Not sure why you think i do feel offended .... by far no , it is all about the exchange of thoughts . Does not mean we have to agree ...

Thanks so much for the very detailed infos about your thinking . I do partly understand your thinking ... but do have my own thoughts , none is better than the other in my book .

I knew the eye might be not the perfect one ... but did not pay that much attention to it as a neutral viewer .

But will try to darken it and see how it looks ..

    Thanks for your constructive feedback

    Cheers Andreas

Miss Nice is thanking you for honest and friendly reply

Truth is, I do expect so much from you in terms of your images... this is because you have good knowledge of PP, choose your images carefully and usually share with us your best work.

I guess if someone new and less experienced posted a similar image I would have focused mainly on the good points and barely mentioned the eye issue. After all, it is what it is, right? But I know you have the ability to fix things...therefore my comments

Hope you have a wonderful evening and a great rest of the week,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
