Since they can't make wine I guess they eat the source :D

This shot was taken at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Neat feeding behavior Michael! However, there are too many branches in the frame. The angle is a little steep. Also, I would crop some off the top and add a little to the right and bottom if you've got it. Thanks for posting!

Branches- Couldn't do much about them in this image. I have other versions where the view of the bird isn't obstructed but the point of the image was to show it eating grapes and there were no grapes in the clear areas. The vines attach themselves to the tree branches.

Angle- Not much I could do there either. Climbing the tree would have been within my skills :) but the refuge rangers wouldn't have liked it and the turkey wouldn't have liked it.

I wish I could add some to the right. Unfortunately I don't have any to add. The images is almost full frame and what was cropped was on the left. They were moving through the tree pretty quickly my main interest was to capture one eating grapes. I've got a ton of Wild Turkey shots but not of them feeding in a tree.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I like the captured behavior, I didn't know they like berries. The bird itself is too much obscured by branches and leaves which takes away from it. I hope you will get a chance to find them in a more favorable setting. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Michael. As already mentioned there are so many branches that it obscures the turkey but it was most interesting to see this type of behavior as I too did not know that they ate berries. Many thanks for sharing this with us.

I agree about the branches. The shot was intended to show behavior. I've got a lot more Turkey images on my home drive (traveling this week) and a couple here. Not many though. This post has reminded me that I have been slacking about uploading images to my website...
