The local arboretum is such a delight to the senses during peak spring time (well, except for the sense of taste, unless one brings a good breakfast or lunch ha ha). Even the "drabber" birds such as this Warbling Vireo look better than at any other time when surrounded by the freshly blooming crabapple trees. For this image I placed a speaker near this branch that was jutting out farther out than most others at the edge of a tree, at eye level no less, and hoped the vireo would perch on it when I turned on the audio.

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 400, hand held, FF, a few spots removed via spot removal, and the left-most leaves in top left corner were brightened significantly as they were under deeper shade (you can still see remnants of the shadows where the deep shade was).

Super sweet with amazing color on the blooms. Perfect for a more simple and neutral subject like this.

Do you drug them before you shoot to get these guys to land in a perfect spot? ;-p

Great composition and sweet detail, tfs!

Beautiful image, Dan. Don't know what I like more, the subject or the perch! Superb composition and stunning colours, love everything about this!
