Very nice indeed, super exposure. I am being pretty picky now but I think the bill tip is just a little soft and so are the tips of the feathers on the neck DOF I assume. A little extras sharpening in these areas does enhance a little I feel.

Lovely light and eye contact. The view of the tan breeding plumes is really nice. The details are excellent, but i would have dropped to f/8 (and 1/1600) to get more DOF across the neck because I'd want those feathers on the rear of the neck in better focus. Lovely look at the skin around the eye though!

Very nice overall Joe, but yes, closeups like this are one of the few times I'll stop down to get all in focus (light permitting, which you had here). I too love that leathery detail on the skin around the eye!

Thanks everyone for viewing and commenting, much appreciated. To those who wished for more depth of field, going to f/8 or more would not have changed much, I was that close to the bird. I would rather have the background soft and lose some of the neck feathers to gentle softness.
