This image was created on 26 April 2023 at the mud hole at Lac Bay Wetlands on Bonaire in the Caribbean Netherlands. Standing at full height, I used the Robus RC-5558-3 Vantage Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod/Levered-Clamp FlexShooter Pro-mounted BLUBB-supported Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS lens, the Sony FE 2.0x Teleconverter, and The One, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless Digital Camera). The exposure was determined via Zebra technology with ISO on the thumb dial. ISO 800. 1/1600 sec. at f/9 (stopped down 1/3-stop) in Manual mode. When evaluated in RawDigger, the raw file brightness was determined to be perfect. AWB at 8:19:12am on a sunny morning. Tracking: Zone with Bird Face/Eye detection enabled performed amazingly well even at 1200mm.

This is a crop from a horizontal original. You can see the original and learn about the image optimization in the blog post here.

As for the image, don't be shy; have at it.

Oh boy, this is so cool. Excellent geometry here with those arcs, angles, and lines! I also like that both individuals are parallel enough to the sensor to see through both their nostrils. Nice with many of today's cameras to be able to crop this way confidently without any noticeable hit to IQ.

Wow !this has everything . Interaction-ballet almost ,great symmetry unique species and every indication that the 2x converter can deliver perfection on this lens and the A1. I think this is from your previously shown horizontal frame which shows another bird on the left which would indicate that the pixel crop is about 70% from the whole frame but only 35/40% from the vertical or less. Just to take up Daniel's point :is there any other camera and lens which can give this result at 1200mm? Love that background too

Super shot, the composition and exposure is spot on. I think this would do well in competition.

Hi Artie, I really like this. The symmetry of the necks and head are wonderful. Detail, color, exposure look good, complimented by the background. Thank you for sharing.

This is a super fun image; the necks and beaks are ridiculous in the best sort of way. The interaction is wonderful. Dark stripe across the top isn't ideal but doesn't break the deal either. I might add a touch more sharpening. 1/1600 was just enough here though I woulda loved to see the same result at 1/2500. But a really awesome result regardless of that knit-pick.
