I took this shot in the backyard from my hide, it was raining just a little. Image cropped to 3:2, some people prefer that ratio.

Hi Jon ... oh looks really nice to me , love the bird and its posing on that lovely elegant perch .
Nicely separated from the BG ... very beneficial to have a set up like you have , maybe does become boring when it is not possible to change the angle to the BG .
Details and tones looking very good , specially with such slow SS ... meanwhile I would not go slower than 1/1600 sec even for perched birds at feeders . AS they do constantly move .... but this is just me . I rather shoot with high iso and fast shutter .
I am surprised to see a that colorful frame of yours under the given lighting .... does look not " natural " as you proclaim many times . But I do like it ... I would just reduce the reds , pinks and yellows a touch .... because of the dreary weather . And definitely yes to the 3x2 crop ....

Might loose the two rain streaks , as they do not help IMHO

Nice one Jon well done and TFS Andreas

Thanks Andreas, glad you liked it. This was one of a sequence, it was a calculated gamble to get the sharp image at a slower shutter speed, at 20fps I felt totally confident that I would get at least one sharp image. As you indicate under routine circumstance I would also go for a faster SS.

Nice setup image. Rich colours. Good head angle by the goldficnch. Yes, those two rain drops need to go as there is just not enough of them to make a positive impact.

Really nice subject and perch Jon! Love the colors all around. Good HA as well. I agree with others about loosing the two rain streaks

This is super sweet Jon. I love how the colors pop despite the flat light.

Really nice background transition and the little lores on the perch are very unique. I'd probably lose the streaks also :-)
