I was walking on a fairly regular route and noticed this Stonechat so I set the camera to Procapture. It would have been nice if he had taken off toward the camera, but not so. I deliberately left the fuzzy bit at the base just to show all is natural - no baiting or sounds to lure just a point and shoot.

Hi Jon ... not looking at a proper monitor so canīt comment on color and tones .
I do really like the take off pose , no need to start into the camera direction .... all the time .
We have a clear view and i do like blurry wings adds dynamic to the scene , prefer that over pin sharp wings .
The composition is not working for me though , personal taste , with a i would say the Stonechat will end up with headache ... you know what i mean by that . You know the medicine to avoid the pain ... LOL .

    Very nice shot Jon

Thanks Andreas, I value your comments.
I appreciate the composition is not ideal, I did not modify because I wanted to illustrate the spontaneity of the moment.... as I mentioned above I could also have cleaned up the base a little but chose not to.

Ok ... you did well with your spontaneity
The base is not an issue for me though ... cleaning up the base does not do much

Nice timing on this shot Jon! It takes a quick trigger finger to capture these. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the comp. Build is way to close to the top of the frame for me.

    Jon:

The launching pose, sense of action from wing blur, exposure, all good.

I agree with the crew about the crop. Too tight at the top.

    Cheers
