I am not sure about this, these little guys are fast. I think it probably should have more room, maybe top and front?

Hi Carole - Fast they sure are - I chased one around all weekend without much luck - ONLY a single solitary bird were I was.

I think your assement is correct - more room in front for him to fly into. Like the eye contact - I think the angle you have has saved it from being in Arties words - like photographing a pancake from the side. Preferred wing position is either fully up or fully down. (They are a challenge these little buggers)

I played with it a bit - only quickly.

Great capture Carole. Indeed a very difficult bird to photograph in flight. Excellent re post by Lance.
    Congrats,

You nailed the exposure on this one, Carole and the extra room up front enhances the image.

As stated above. It would be even better if it was not flying away...from what I read :)

    Hi Carole!

I think what helps this image is that the face turned slightly back toward you, and the expression with the beak open. However, if photographed a few seconds earlier, it would be much stronger with the bird flying toward you (rather than flying away from you). Suggest that some halo and noise all around can be easily cleaned up in post processing to a very solid image. I might add just a slight more room on the left.

Nice job on the re-post esp. the lighter blue sky, but the huge problem here is that the bird is flying away from you rather than towards you.... It looks also as if the bird's nictitating membrane is covering the eye...
