Back to the set up.....More of a fun image I suppose.....The bird 'taking it on the chin' is a female Chaffinch.....Gimbal head....ACR, Topaz DN and PS........ Reminded me of my younger days watching Bruce Lee...

Hi Will what a cool fun image ... love the pose of both birds and you have the right amount of DOF .
The Goldfinch is making the " Crane " .

Can't help but for the subjects do look a bit on the " plastic " side .... colors looking dull , specially the whites do look too neutral .... all that said as a personal taste .
How much of a crop ?

    Cool action captured !!!

Will I am a fine one to talk at the moment but I think the colours are a little awry. The details around the eye of the Goldfinch seem to have gone into a Topaz blur.
I enjoyed the image it is good to see this kind of action/interaction. I think it is worth having another look at it.
I can recommend DxO Pure Raw 3, you can have it on free trial for about a month.

Yes, some parts of the bird look a bit enameled. I never get that using Topaz DeNoise "Clear" on the whole image so not sure where that came from. I love the action; bBummer that the male's head is angled slightly away.

Great action and pose you managed Will. Also wish the HA was a bit more toward us, but nothing you can do about it when you have this kind of action. I agree with others about the way the feathers look.
