    Hi all.
A new location where I was told there were red-capped Robins. Always great to get a "lifer", especially when the birds are so cute. I got a number of male and female Robins...here's one male. processed in PR3, ACR and PS.

Hi Paul.....What a great looking bird, first time I have seen one....Congrats on the lifer....Great colours on the bird, lovely pose and HA....I like the detail especially on the head area....Nice as is....Just thinking f/7.1 or even f/8 may have been better and put the whole bird in focus....Depends of course how near you were. The BG colours show the bird well.... It sure is more colourful than our Robins ....

Hi Will. Thank you for the feedback. They're pretty flighty...so I wasn't as close as I'd like, but I'm going back again soon, so will aim for more with f7.1 or f8 if i can get closer. Cheers.

Life birds are always good! The engaging head turn and lighting really pull the viewer right in. The blacks and reds look good, but the whites on the upper flank looked cooked. I assume
you kept the crop tight at the bottom to minimize what looks like a metal railing.

Thanks Dorian. Yes, I see the area you mention and have adjusted the whites. The perch is a tree branch.

Congratulations on the lifer Paul! Very cute little bird and much more interesting than our Robins here in America. Good detail, agree with Dorian on the whites and also wondering why the tight crop on bottom?

Thanks Kurt. I went back and reduced the whites. I thought the "perch" was a little too obtrusive and so that's the reason for the tight crop.

Like the image but the near end of the perch was brutal an the contrast very high to my eye. I did the best I could with the perch, reduced the contrast a bit, tried something new on the white hotspots, toned down the REDs in Selective Color, and executed a 3X2 crop. The crop at least is a big improvement; I saw no reason for the boxy crop.

Thanks Artie. I like what you've done and the crop works for me too. Not sure about the perch though...there are some repeated patterns drawing my eye in, but it's a bad perch anyhow. Reds look improved. Cheers

  11. Thanks Arthur Morris thanked for this post
