I captured this image along the westerly shore of Lake Parker in Lakeland, Florida. Note the hooked bill for opening the operculum and feeding on the large Apple Snails. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joe a really nice portrait of this special bird .
Super light and a pleasing structured BG ... glad the subject gave you a very nice head turn .
Plumage does look very good in terms of sharpness and structure .

    Nicely processed

This is the headshot I wanted but didn't get while I was in Florida Jan and Feb. I love everything about this: lighting color, pose, background etc. Was this perch crappy? If no, do you
have a full body shot to match? Awesome frame regardless!

Very nice Joe.....The BG looks fab....Great pose and feather detail with a nice HA...Yes, the talons would have been nice to see, but I suspect there's a reason for this crop....

Really great head turn and detail on this portrait Joe! I also wish the talons were visible, but as Will said, I'm sure you had a reason for the crop

Thanks everyone for viewing and commenting, much appreciated. Here is the image showing all of the bird, not a good angle for showing the feet and talons. I was sitting on the ground when I captured this image. I wanted to get close so I scooted closer every time the bird was distracted finally getting close enough for the original image I posted.
