    Default Bobwhite

Was finally able to get a decent image of a bobwhite, now that I have my new 500 lens! I thought this was nice & sharp initially; after finishing post-processing, I am now thinking it's a little soft? What do you think? Will have to check out the other frames to see if I have a sharper one.
    Comments/suggestions welcome!

Nice image Anita. as you said it does appear a little soft. But nice head turn with good eye contact, and a good smooth background. the other leaves behind him are a little distracting, congrats on the 500

Thanks, Dan! Love the new lens, altho it's bigger than I expected and awkward....practice, practice! May have to redo this, or find another bobwhite. (: Appreciate your comments.

It does look a little soft, not much but still there. 1/125 is not alot of SS at that focal lenght - I assume you were using a tripod. Too bad the leaves curve down to behind the head and body. Nice head turn, and we get a good view of the back pattern :-)

You're doing pretty well with that new 500 Anita! It is a little soft; try bumping your ISO higher and then using a faster shutter speed. The Mark III handles ISO 800 easily. The BG draws attention away, because of both the leaves and bright areas. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Dan and Doug; yep, need lots more practice! Thanks for the suggestions, will keep them in mind. Not sure why I was shooting at such a slow ss....no tripod but the BLUBB....I didn't feel the background was so bad, but wished the leaves behind his head weren't there; think there was one where they were not touching his head. And of course, the white part of the sky was an issue to me....I also wished his crest had been up. Well, there will probably be other opportunities....Thanks all for your time/suggestions/comments!

Considering the circumstances this looks pretty good. You could raise the color temperature a bit and sharpen the bird a bit more.

Thanks, Artie, looks better. I had taken some of that green cast out, but not enough obviously.
