    I captured this image along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive in Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Merritt Island, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D500
    Nikon 500mm PF + Nikon 1.4 III Teleconverter, camera and lens supported by a Oben carbon fiber monopod with a Wimberly MonoGimbal head
    1/3200 F/8 Matrix Metering EV 0 ISO 800 Auto 1 WB, image captured at 700mm (1050mm 35mm Equivalent)
    Post processed using Lightroom Classic, and Topaz Photo AI
    Cropped slightly for composition and presentation

    The details are outstanding, and I like that we have eye contact eye with the beak in the water.

    I assume this is a full-frame? I can't imagine you'd crop this tight or fail to rotate if you had the choice.

    Otherwise, the next looks a bit grayed. The detail in that region is fantastic but it's coming at the expense
    of a natural look.

    Hi Dorian, thank you for viewing and commenting. I missed that the neck feathers were graying when I lowered the highlights on the bird. Easy fix I backed reducing the highlights. Thanks for providing another set of eyes. Here is a repost of that edit.

    Oh Joe ... a " Velvia " image
    Nice overall colors and nice tonal range ( RP ) from HL to 3/4 tones ... just think the very dark shadow areas a touch too strong , no deal breaker just a matter of taste .
    Good behavior shot and I do like the head turn

    Beautiful colours and detail......Very striking and I like the pose you captured.....Neck details are better on the RP.

    Love the colors and detail in this one Joe! I just find myself wishing it wasn't so tight. Still, a striking image!
