    Default Brown hare (Lepus europaeus)

Well at last I have managed to get a few images from our new country home. I spotted this hare on the boundary of our back yard, he was on a mission sniffing out any female hares in his territory. On this first day out with may camera I saw two or possibly three different hares within 100m of the house. I tried to tame the very bright light.
    Had held on one knee:
    OM-1 : OLYMPUS M.150-400mm F4.5 TC
    Focal Length (35 mm conversion) : 488.0mm
    ISO : 2000
    Exposure compensation : +0.7 EV
    Exposure mode : Manual exposure
    Shutter : 1/2500 sec
    F number : F5.6

Congrats on the move Jon....Looks like your going to be in amongst the hares for a while....Very nice details on this one, and I like the sniffing....A wee bit tight in frame for me.....Great HA and those upright 'listening' ears look real good.

Thanks Will , I agree a little tight, I did make an alternative adding canvas and then I decided not to. I have some more similar and I did manage a number of different shots of this particular hare and I managed to zoom out as it approached me. It came to within about 2m distance, I was down on one knee keeping still, he stared at me, turned sideways, glanced back and then slowly walked into the longer grass, I remained still and I can still enjoy the moment!

Sounds real good....I hope you capture some of the 'boxing' when it starts.

Hi Jon ... cool neighbors you are having now , invite him daily and you might be rewarded later in the year with great photo opportunities .

Nice fine details showing up in the fur .
I am 50/50 on the overall colors and tones , I think some punch is missing and for most part it is looking " too yellow " .... but I am not 100 % sure if I am right .
Do agree with Will about being a bit tight in the frame

I agree entirely Andreas, I can't tell you how different versions I have made of these hares. I think initially it was perhaps a mistake to overexpose, I did tame the fur a little in ACR with luminosity and saturation, I tried various colour profiles too.
